How much does it cost?

The tuition fees in Egypt aren’t that so expensive. As for undergraduate studies, they cost from $1,254 to $8,360 per year.  Regarding the post-graduate tuition, the fees vary from $1,800 to up to $8,000. Nonetheless, there are some cheap universities in the country. At Alexandria University, the tuition fees cost $1,254 per year. As for the tuition fees, the Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology cost $1,500 per year. At Cairo University, the minimum tuition fees cost $2509 while at Horus University the cost is $1,000 below this figure.  Hence, the minimum cost of studying per an academic year in most of the top-ranking Egyptian universities range from $1,500 and $2,500 per year.

While the cost of living in Egypt seems higher than the neighboring North African countries, it’s significantly lower than other Middle Eastern nations such as Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Oman. According to a Mercer Cost of Living Survey poll, Cairo was ranked 137th most expensive city worldwide out of 209 cities. 

Accommodation 

As a general rule, it costs less to rent an apartment in Egypt than it is in many foreign countries. However, costs of accommodation may vary from one city to another; and vary from big cities to smaller ones. For example, a three-bedroom apartment in the city center costs from LE5,000 to LE 13,000. The same apartment outside the city center could devour a lower cost of LE3,000 to LE9,000. One-bedroom apartment in the city center costs nearly LE2,000 while the same apartment outside the city center costs nearly half of this sum: LE1,200.

The American University in Egypt 

The American University in Egypt is located in the heart of Egypt. It provides courses in English, and they are an American-accredited institution. If a student gets a degree from AUC, the universities in the USA will accept their degree since it is accredited on the global level. It was founded in 1919. It is one of the top universities in Egypt since it has accreditation both in the US and in Egypt.

German University in Cairo (GUC)

As its name suggests, the university is supported by the German government. The German University in Cairo is an Egyptian private university that was established through cooperation between the Education Department of Germany and Egypt. Run by a host of Germans and Egyptians, the GUC continues to bolster the bonds between Germany and Egypt by their education system. Many of their programs involve exchanging students between the two countries. A lot of students have learned and mastered the working environment of both countries. It’s an ideal destination for international students seeking to get to the German culture and educational system but cannot afford or don’t have the opportunity to move to Germany.

Arab Academy for Sciences Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT)

Arab Academy for Sciences, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) was created in 1972 to teach Maritime Transport not only to students in Egypt but also to students from Arab countries. It is backed by the United Nations.  The AASTMT was created in Alexandria to teach the major of maritime transports to the people in the Arab countries. Since its establishment, AASTMT has provided a multiplicity of educational opportunities to students from more than 59 Arab, African, Asian, European and other countries. The university is hence a great destination for international students. It’s an institution of a regional and pan-Arab nature. It houses many students from a myriad of backgrounds. 

Mansura University 

Mansoura University is located in the middle of the Nile Delta in a major city called Mansoura. It was established in 1962. Mansoura University was created to teach students in medicine and nursing. Due to its location, it was called the East Delta University. However, the name was changed to Mansoura University in 1973.

The requirements for obtaining an Egypt visa differ depending on the applicant’s nationality and the duration of studying that the student needs to accomplish his studies and obtain the academic degree they are dreaming of. • A passport that is valid for at least six months
• Two personal photos on a white background

If you want to apply to study in Egypt, there are some steps you’ll need to follow. You’ll need to apply directly to the university of your choice, as there’s no centralized platform where you can apply. You’ll fill in the application form and submit it to the university you’re applying to, whether through an online means or through the post, with the needed documents. Read on to learn more. 

Required Documents 

When it comes to undergraduate studies, such as bachelor’s degrees, the required documents are: 

• Maturity Certificate, acquired from the Albanian Entrance Exam
• High school diploma and transcripts 
• English proficiency certificates such as TOEFL or IELTS
• SAT Exam results, as some universities need to consider them 
• Copy of passport or another identification document
• Two passport size photos 
• At least two references letters 

For graduate studies like master’s degrees or doctorate degrees, you’ll need to submit:

• Undergraduate or graduate diplomas or equivalent documents
• English proficiency certificates such as TOEFL or IELTS
• CV or resume with the following information: personal information, brief educational background, professional experience, extra-curricular, skills, awards received, publications (if applicable), and references
• At least two reference letters
• Copy of passport or another identification document
• Two passport size photos 
• For doctorate degrees, research proposals in the field in which you want to prepare the thesis 

It’s important to note that all documents need to be translated into English before submitting. 

Scholarship in Egypt

As for scholarships, there are so many entities that provide scholarships for international students in Egypt. The AUC and British Council provide scholarships. The AUC scholarships include:
