Tuition fees vary based on the university you choose but an average student will pay around 3,500 dollars per year, for undergraduate and graduate study programs.

Degrees available

In Maltese universities, higher education is divided into three stages. Student Visa - Malta

 

Like any other country, you’ll need a study visa to study in Malta. If you must have a visa, you should prepare the required documents and then send them to your local Maltese consulate to be processed. You’ll then wait on your acceptance letter so you can go pursue your studies.

Required Documents

In order to study in Malta, you’ll need to hand in the following documents:

• Filled out visa application form
• Two passport-sized photos
•  Copy of original passport pages, with the validity of the course to be studied
• Original passport
• Letter of acceptance from Maltese institution. This letter should state how much tuition you paid and what course you will study, and the duration of it
• Proof that you are able to sustain yourself financially during the course of your studies. The amount must be at least 75 per cent of Malta’s minimum wage for every month you will stay in Malta (20 dollars a day if you have paid residence already. Otherwise, it must be 45 dollars a day)
• Proof of accommodation in the country 
• Proof of health insurance valid for the period of your course study (with minimum coverage of 30,000)
• Proof of return tickets to home country after completing the course
• Proof of payment of visa application fee 

Please note that all documents must be in English. If they are in another language, then you’ll have to get them translated and notarised. The time taken to process your visa application is up to 4 weeks in time so keep this time period in mind when you start the visa application process. 

How to apply - Malta

When applying to universities in Malta to study in, the process is simple and straightforward. Because Malta doesn’t have a central portal to apply through to several universities simultaneously, instead, you will need to apply to each of the schools individually. Requirements for acceptance differ based on the degree program and also the university chosen. 

General application documents 

Any student who wants to apply to study in Malta will need to submit the following documents: 

• Completed application form
• Diploma with all subjects studied and transcript with the grades, for all levels of education 
• Medical certificate, proving good medical health by an official health service
• Proof of no AIDS, offered by an official from a public health service from your home country 
• Copy of birth certificate
• 10 photos sized 4 x 6 cm 
• Official passport with Maltese study visa inside it
• Proof of English language proficiency such as TOEFL or IELTS exam results
